I bought this opener for myself 2 yrs ago and have never had a problem, I Love it! This past weekend I went wine tasting with my friend and she was amazed at how easy this was to use to I came here to buy her one. I will never use a different opener!

The Oggi corkscrew is the easiest way to open a bottle of wine I've ever used, but it's not entirely without problems. First, the good: it works as advertised, allowing you to open a bottle and dispose of the cork in about 5 seconds. The stand, while a little light, is still an excellent feature, giving you a useful place to store both the corkscrew and foil cutter.
The bad: the action isn't a smooth as it could be - it feels like the gears bind a little at times, which may indicate some quality control issues during manufacturing. (Parts not machined/cast exactly to spec). Second, the base doesn't include a place to store the extra worm that comes with the set. Not a huge problem, but one that would have been easy to include at no real cost.
I haven't yet needed to replace the worm, so can't comment on how easy that is to do.
Overall I'm very happy with this product, and recommend it highly.

I bought this corkscrew because my daughter had bought another version of this type for $100!! I used it when I was there and Loved It! But I cant spend that kind of money on a corkscrew. I saw this one and figured, at that price, why not?
I was amazed when it arrived. It looked and felt just like hers...same heft...same look. Then I opened my first bottle with it. WOW! Clamp it around the neck of the bottle, and a back and forth motion of a lever pops out the cork! Takes 5 seconds! After using an Alessi for 10 years (yes, it did last that long but...)...screwing it down and then using brute force to get it out, this is a dream.
Anyone who opens wine bottles on a regular basis should have this corkscrew!! You will absolutely love it...and at this price? It's crazy good.
